本課程著重在離散數學的各種特性之認識、瞭解與應用，包括：排列組合的相關原理與應用、邏輯定律、規則之推理與應用、基本數論之整數特性、關係與函數之特性與應用、生產函數之特性與應用及遞迴關係之特性與應用等。

培養學生對於離散數學的認知與解題能力，而著重於基本原理的理解及其引申應用題目之解決方法與模式的訓練，借以增進學生的理解、分析、組織、推理、應用等能力，更進而培養學生獨立思考、解決問題的能力，包括：
